![]() I used to be more naive like Bethany, but now I assume everyone is up to stuff. My character is actually Catholic, which is wild! Luckily it is just audio so no one can see my Jewish face. I also get up and wander around a lot in an effort to “stretch my legs.” Also, Twitter.Īs a Jewish woman who’s very comfortable being open on the Internet, do you identify with your character at all? What does a typical writing day look like for you?Ī lot of snacks, my pajamas, and my dog on my lap. I really hope there will be! You can expect a whole lot of drama if it gets renewed! Plus, we all need to find out who hit that lady with their car! ![]() Will there be a season 2? And, if so, will Golden Acres see more tragedy? It’s the most political of the episodes and also completely ridiculous. What was your favorite story line to write? I then had to fill in the rest and actually make it a show. I wanted to get into the scripted podcast space so I had to think of a scripted podcast! I’ve always been a huge fan of primetime soaps, so it made sense to write something in that genre with a comedic bent. We caught up with Raskin to talk about her trailblazing radio show, what she really thinks of people who say they don’t like to gossip, and of course, bagels. And now all 12 episodes are available for free, so you can binge them to your hearts content, calorie free! Listening to an episode of “Gossip” is like eating a bag of Sour Patch Kids - they’re sour, sweet, and gone in less than 20 minutes. The friends, Bethany, Mia, and Valerie, live in Golden Acres, a fictional suburban town which may or may not be based on Scarsdale, New York where Raskin grew up. The show follows three female friends and the gossip they swap during their weekly coffee dates (if they sound like yentas, think again because none of them are Jewish). And although Raskin doesn’t refer to the show as a radio play, that’s exactly what it is.Īt the epicenter of “Gossip” is - yep, you guessed it-spilling the tea. Unlike any other podcast, “ Gossip” is entirely scripted and voiced by a cast of 32 actors. Because the current line according to them has everyone, QT included, being a gross hypocrite. For her latest project, the Jewish comedian tackled a medium oversaturated with content and added a pinch of nuance. I'm more interested in the discussion of where the line is drawn. The general sentiment & lack of nuance I've seen from statements made by female streamers, the replies, & the following LSF circlejerk however, drives me crazy. I'm not going to pretend as if her tweet is a heinous act. Do you really think she asked them for permission?Įdit 3: I think it's important to say, the point of this post is not to mindlessly shit on qt. ![]() It seems less likely that she got express permission for the tweet and more like she thought it would be a funny tweet. Her tweet was 2.5 hours after the event had ended. At 33 mins into her most recent vod she goes over pokimane's tweet & more and agrees with them.Įven then, even if she didn't agree with poki, the utter similarity of wikifeet and deepfakes is enough to warrant a discussion.Įdit 2: I've read a lot of sentiment that this was probably consensual. I just want to start a discussion about where we draw the line on non-consensual sexualization.Įdit: for those trying to say "but qt didn't agree with them!" Yes she did. I'm not trying to say this tweet is morally wrong within my opinion. I am not saying this is nearly as bad as deepfakes, I'm simply pointing out hypocrisy, considering there is a high similarity between wikifeet and deepfake porn. IIRC I saw a tweet where she states she purposefully does her best to never show her feet as well. A quick search of her name in the site has 500 results, many being creepy screenshots from mid stream. In Poki's tweet with 350k likes, she said non-consensual sexualization is wrong, period (And many other streamers statements echo this sentiment). Her tweet also brought more attention to the website, which has been a main issue in the atrioc situation. I'm not trying to say this is the end of the world, but this website is literally non-consensual sexualization of streamers and celebs in form of pics and screengrabs for people with foot fetishes to jerk off to. And I, along with everyone else here am aware her tweet is a joke (shocker). DISCLAIMER: I have seen many people take this as an attempt to discredit qt, and say she has no right to be angry about the deepfake situation.
